The Old World heritage of this povitica dates as far back as our original English walnut, for the popular poppy seed is a symbol of prosperity in Eastern Europe. We crush the poppy seeds and fold them into layers of sweet citrus, local honey and a touch of sugar. Then we envelop this filling in our handmade dough to create a traditional pastry that has been enjoyed for generations.

Each hand-rolled povitica has a net weight of 2.5 pounds and is certified kosher. Shipped in our signature Strawberry Hill gift box, povitica should be refrigerated upon arrival or can be stored in the freezer for up to three months.

The povitica reminded me of those made by my mom. I slowly savored the taste of each bite.

Yummy! Just like Mom used to make. Maybe a bit better because it's bigger, but don't tell her!

Your best flavor!! We've ordered this several times, as well as other flavors, but Poppyseed is always our favorite. Thanks for making such a tasty product.

For years my Mom made the poppy seed desert and we all loved it. It reminds me of days gone by.

I grew up with this cake during the holidays and have fond memories of it. This version does not disappoint! I've ordered repeatedly over years for myself or my family. I love it.

This item is very similar to a favorite German Mennonite baked item. It's German name is " mach kuchen" translate to poppy seed roll. It is fixed in a single, but like povitica it is delicious.

My husband, who was born in Croatia, liked the poppy seed povitica. He felt there wasn't enough poppy seeds in it. One side had more than the other side.
