English Walnut Povitica

The secret recipe for English walnut povitica was Grandma’s first gift to us, and the original remains our bestseller to this day. We crush farm-fresh English walnuts and fold in sweet creamery butter, honey and real sugar. Then we roll it by hand in just enough of our delicate pastry dough to bring the filling together into buttery, flaky goodness, just as we’ve done for three generations.

We enjoyed this every holiday season during my childhood in the 60's. This is the real thing.

Almost as good as Mama made

I grew up on Povitica, especially around Christmas time, and this is as good as any we ever made at home. I sure do miss making it with Mama.

    English walnut

Delicious!!! I loved the flavor of this bread. I meant to try toasting but never did…delicious sliced at room temperature. While I would like to try other flavors, the walnut one would be hard to beat.

My grandparents were from Croatia. My grandmother made the English walnut and it is my favorite. So good!

    the best of the best!

My mom used to make this (the Slovenian version - Potica) and the need for it year round, but especially during the holidays (Christmas & Easter) made us turn to Strawberry Hill. It is my and my family's favorite breakfast and dessert. Ever so delicious and mouth-warming.

    Tasty and authentic

This tasty treat came very close to what a Polish pharmacist used to make and share with me. I loved this breakfast treat. It's worth the price for flavor and quality.

    Always A Winner

This is one of my favorite Povitica flavors. The walnuts are not chunky, but finely ground to mesh well with the layers of dough. I'd never heard of Povitica, and on a whim responded to a mailer for my first order. So glad I did! It's unique and always a hit when I share with guests. I have given as Christmas and Thanksgiving gifts for many friends and family. I'm never without this flavor. I slice, per directions, place each individual slice in a sandwich baggy, then all the slices back in the bag it came in. Place that bag in a freezer ziplock and that in another larger freezer ziplock. This allows me to take out one slice at a time, and I've had no quality issues after freezing in this manner for 6+ months.
