English Walnut Povitica

The secret recipe for English walnut povitica was Grandma’s first gift to us, and the original remains our bestseller to this day. We crush farm-fresh English walnuts and fold in sweet creamery butter, honey and real sugar. Then we roll it by hand in just enough of our delicate pastry dough to bring the filling together into buttery, flaky goodness, just as we’ve done for three generations.

    Just Like Gramm's

Posted by Emm on May 6th 2022

Growing up with the "nut bread" was a fact of life. Gramm would make the dough; set it in a 5 gallon pot to rise with a dishrag over the top. Punch the dough when it would rise up or let one of us kids punch the dough. Us kids would collect wood for her wood stove and she'd roll out the dough and spread the ground/pasty nuts on the dough. Always a treat. So glad that Gramm is still alive thru Strawberry Hill.

    English Walnut “Potica”

Posted by KATHLEEN LEXNDER on May 3rd 2022

I grew up with “potica” as my mother’s parents were from Dalmatia, Yugoslavia (Croatia); and received this as a gift from my brother. Thank you for the wonderful childhood memories.

Absolutely delicious! So good - - slather on some butter, warm in microwave for 30 seconds and enjoy with morning coffee/tea or after a meal for a great sweet dessert. Love it. Can't always find it in the grocery store, so we order it online! So happy we tried it. Now we're the biggest fans!
