English Walnut Povitica

The secret recipe for English walnut povitica was Grandma’s first gift to us, and the original remains our bestseller to this day. We crush farm-fresh English walnuts and fold in sweet creamery butter, honey and real sugar. Then we roll it by hand in just enough of our delicate pastry dough to bring the filling together into buttery, flaky goodness, just as we’ve done for three generations.

I sent these two loafs as gifts to friends however my name was not included and they had no idea who sent the items even though I requested a gift note.

    Best Potica since Great Grandma's!!

Posted by Kim Wagner on Mar 21st 2023

My Great Grandparents were from Yugoslavia, she made the best Potica. She taught me how then passed away. I would make it annually for my family then I got a chronic illness and thought I'd never have it again due to lack of strength to roll it out, mix the filling and just stand for a length of time. Then I found Strawberryhill! They make their Provitica the same way GG made her Potica! (Of course, hers was 5 star plus) It is totally worth the price when you consider the price of the ingredients walnuts, honey, butter that is just the filling. Then the time to make it; when I would make it it was an all day affair that resulted in 5 beautiful loaves. I happily buy what I can no longer do myself and am very pleased with this end result! ?

These nut rolls are fantastic. They're moist with lots of nut filling. My wife and I particularly like to have a slice for breakfast. When I receive my shipment, I immediately slice up each loaf into 3/4 inch pieces, put it back into the plastic bag and into the box and then into the freezer. Then we use a simple dinner knife to separate a slice for breakfast. The only problem we have is that they don't ship to Canada so we have to buy a bunch of loaves when we vacation in Florida.
