Apple Cinnamon Bread Pudding Recipe

Grandma's Apple Cinnamon Povitica Bread Pudding recipe is a special treat. Handwritten in the corner of Grandma's original povitica recipe was the following... "Only for special occasions".


2 Cups Milk

1/4 Cups Butter

4 Large Eggs (Slightly Beaten)

1/2 Cup Sugar

1 teaspoon Cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon Kosher Salt

6 Slices Apple Cinnamon Povitica Cubed

1/2 Cup Raisins

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a two quart saucepan, heat your milk and butter.

In a large bowl, mix eggs, sugar, cinnamon, raisins, and salt.

Place cubes evenly into 6 to 8 ungreased ramekins

Pour liquid mix in each ramekin making sure to coat each cube of povitica completely.

Bake uncovered 35~40 minutes or until knife inserted into center come out clean.

Notes: Any povitica will work, we have had great results with Apple Cinnamon, Cokolada (Chocolate) and, English Walnut Povitica. Raisins can be omitted or replaced with cranberries or chocolate chips.
